Sara Smith, MA, LMFT, earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel Seminary in 2013. She enjoys working with people in all seasons of life but has a special passion for working with couples and families. Her areas of experience and special interest include working with couples who feel disconnected or distressed due to affairs and other trust breaches, parenting struggles, and communication breakdowns, as well as working with individuals who have experienced past or current trauma. She has worked in both in-home and outpatient settings. Sara is certified in EMDR (an effective therapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences), Discernment Counseling (a type of brief couples therapy designed for couples who are uncertain whether they want to continue their relationship that aims to help partners consider all options before they make the decision to work on or terminate their relationship), and has advanced training in using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
