Intern/Practicum Students or Clinical Trainees
LDR is hiring for both Practicum Student & Clinical Trainee positions:
- An Intern/Practicum student who is enrolled in a behavioral health graduate program in order to be knowledgeable and competent in the treatment of a variety of emotional disorders and is in need of completing an internship or practicum training position for their graduate degree or;
- A Clinical Trainee who is a graduate of a Masters program in a behavioral health related field who is working to accumulate licensure hours for one of the Minnesota Boards.
The intern/practicum student or clinical trainee is responsible for direct client care under supervision by a licensed mental health professional. This person will get the opportunity to develop a caseload of their own and may be providing in-office therapy, DBT, or in-home skills and/or therapy for the CTSS program. Requirements to be a candidate for one of these positions include:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Awareness of their own strengths and limitations and the impact those strengths on client care
- Sensitivity to individual differences and to the possible effects of multicultural issues
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
- Has a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
- Experience working with children preferred
Responsibilities:
- Provide skills training, crisis assistance and in some cases psychotherapy for clients
- Maintain confidentiality of client’s protected health information at all times
- Provide regular updates by phone or email to key stakeholders in each case
- Participate in individual and group supervision a minimum of 60 minutes per week
- Participate in monthly staff meeting and follow all LDR policies and procedures
- Earn a minimum of 20 CEUs every two years on topics necessary to do the assigned position
- Maintain clinical records in compliance with LDR policies and procedures, insurance carriers, Minnesota and Federal law and relevant ethical boards policies and regulatory standards
- Provide other functions as required or assigned for effective operations of the clinic
Qualifications:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science/related field from accredited college/university and (a.) have at least 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of mental health services to recipients with mental illness or (b.) be fluent in the non-English language of the cultural group to which at least 50% of the practitioner’s clients, complete 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to recipients with mental illness, and receive clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once/week until the requirements of 2000 hours of supervised experience are met; or
- Have at least 6000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of mental health services to recipients with mental illness (hours worked as a mental health behavioral aide I or II under CTSS may be included in the 6000 hours of experience for child recipients); or
- Be a graduate student in one of the mental health professional disciplines and formally assigned by accredited college/university to an agency or facility for clinical training; or
- Hold a master’s or other graduate degree in one of the mental health professional disciplines from an accredited college/university; or
- Be certified as a tribal mental health practitioner serving a federally recognized Native American tribe.
