Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Adults

Build a life worth living – one skill at a time.

DBT is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals manage overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, and reduce self-destructive behaviors. Originally developed for individuals with chronic emotion dysregulation, DBT has since been widely used to support people experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, personality disorders, and more.

At LDR, we offer a state-certified DBT program that follows Dr. Linehan’s evidence-based model. Our intensive, one-year outpatient program is built to provide not just relief—but lasting change. We believe that healing begins when people are met with understanding, practical tools, and consistent support.

Who Can Benefit from DBT?
DBT is especially helpful for individuals experiencing:

  • Intense, out-of-control emotions
  • Chaotic or unstable relationships
  • Impulsive or self-destructive behaviors, including suicidal thoughts or self-injury
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

What Makes DBT Effective?
Our program is designed to be both comprehensive and compassionate, integrating multiple treatment components to create a solid foundation for emotional and behavioral stability.

Core Components of Adult DBT:

  1. Weekly Skills Training Group
Learn and practice skills in a supportive, structured environment. Focus areas include:

      • Mindfulness: Learning to stay present, increase awareness, and reduce reactivity
      • Emotion Regulation: Understanding and managing intense feelings
      • Distress Tolerance: Building coping strategies for high-stress situations
      • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Navigating relationships with confidence and clarity
  2. Weekly Individual Therapy
One-on-one sessions with a trained DBT therapist focus on applying skills to your specific life challenges, with an emphasis on building a life that aligns with your values and goals.
  3. 24/7 Coaching Support
Access to phone coaching helps reinforce skills in real-time, especially during difficult or triggering situations.

Optional EMDR Therapy
As clients progress, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) may be offered to help process past trauma or shame that contributes to current challenges.
